Internet and society: The Ministry of Communications of Russia intends to triple media literacy of the population over five years

The Ministry of Communications of Russia plans to triple the level of literacy of the Russians in the next five years. This was reported by the deputy head of department Alexei Volin in an interview to "Rossiyskaya Gazeta".

"We pay much attention to the direction of media literacy - said the deputy minister. - At the end of last year was conducted a study which showed that the level of literacy in Russia is about 15 percent. Our task is to triple this figure within five years". According to him, children learn the rules of behavior with a computer and the Internet must lead parents and school teachers.

According to Volin, the task of increasing literacy of the Russians is largely solved by cyber security strategy, which is being developed now in the Federation Council. "It has protective measures, warning measures, information and educational measures. For example, increasing of the literacy of the population, so that users understand how to behave on the Internet, how to keep their personal information as set parental control on the child's computer", - said the deputy head of the Ministry of Communications.
