Russian museums: Exhibition “Pearl of Kolomenskoye” in Moscow

The Scientific Library of the Moscow State United Museum hosts the exhibition “Pearl of Kolomenskoye” dedicated to the Church of Ascension – a masterpiece of the world architecture, the UNESCO monument.

The exhibition at the library features books of the XIX, XX as well as modern editions.

It is interesting to note that in the years of the Great Patriotic War were issued books dedicated to this masterpiece of architecture. In the series “Monuments of Russian architecture” in 1941 was released a book “Church of the Ascension in Kolomenskoye. XVI century”, and in 1944 was released a work by V. Podklyuchnikov “Kolomenskoye” where the chapter dedicated to the monument is.

The exhibition also features collections “Kolomenskoye. Materials and research”, where are published articles of research workers of the museum. A worthy place at the exhibition belongs to the book of famous scientists A. L. Batalov and L. A. Belyaev “Church of the Ascension in Kolomenskoye: architecture, archaeology, history”, which was published in 2013. This work is the first scientific monograph about this monument of architecture.
