Exhibitions: Icons of the Mother of God from the collection of the Andrei Rublev Museum presented in Tomsk

Until February 27, 2014 in the Tomsk Regional Art Museum is held the exhibition "In Thee rejoice. Icons of the Mother of the Andrei Rublev Museum".

The exhibition "In Thee rejoice" is dedicated to the image of the Mother of God in the Russian icon painting and arts and crafts.

The exhibition includes icons, works of decorative art of the XIII - XX centuries from the collection of the Andrei Rublev Museum (Moscow). Among them are represented as famous monuments, and those which are exposed for the first time. All these works implemented by icon painters from different periods, keep alive the perception of tradition.

The exhibition shows how the oldest and most popular types of iconographic images of the Virgin and Child (Hodigitria of Smolensk, Omen, Vladimir, Kazan, etc.) and widely spread at a later time (All Who Sorrow, Softener of Evil Hearts, Healer, Reigning etc.).

A special section of the exhibition is dedicated to Virgin’s earthly journey; it includes sites with images of holidays: Nativity of the Virgin, Entry into the Temple, Annunciation, Assumption, etc.

Visitors are presented about 67 works of iconography and arts and crafts. The exhibition is designed for a wide range of audiences of all ages interested in the history and the visual arts of ancient Russia.
