Prime Minister of Russia: Dmitry Medvedev approves forecast of national science and technological development up to 2030

Dmitry Medvedev approves Ministry of Education and Science forecast of national science and technological development of the Russian federation up to 2030.

The long-term forecast for national science and technological development (up to 2030) has been compiled and updated under Presidential Instruction, issued after the 18 April 2008 meeting of the State Council Presidium.

The forecast focuses on the following high-priority areas of national science and technological development: Information and communications technologies, biological engineering, medicine and healthcare, new materials and nanotechnologies, frugal use of natural resources, transport and space systems, energy efficiency and energy saving programs.

The following main results have been obtained during the drafting of this forecast: suspects exerting the greatest influence on science and technologies and the resultant challenges for long-term economic, science and social development have been singled out, risks and new opportunities for Russia’s science and technological development have been determined, promising markets, product groups and potential areas for demand for innovative Russian technologies and other innovations have been determined, high-priority research and development objectives have been identified.
