Information technology and archives: Register of births to be digitized in the Belgorod region

The electronic information foundation of the Administration of the Governor of the Belgorod region has been enriched with register of births from the collection of the State Archive of the region.

The “Electronic” Archive Corporation has completed the digitization of inventories and genealogical documents from the State Archive of the Belgorod region. During the project it have been scanned and indexed 140 storage units of church register of births, dating up to 1925. The Array is more than 37 000 pages and contains about 185 000 records.

A created electronic information resource in the form of document images and search indexes is loaded in AIS-archive embedded in the State Archive of the region. In addition, a set of electronic copies of inventory and cases was recorded on the optical media. The project aims to create an electronic information collection of Governor's Administration of the Belgorod region, remote access to information about the content of genealogical documents.

In addition, the works will allow preserving valuable documents as the original register of births will be replaced for users of electronic copies.
