To the XXII Winter Olympic Games: North-West to be presented as part of the project “Exposition of Russian regions in the Olympic park” in Sochi

During the XXII Winter Olympic Games and the XI Paralympic Winter Games 2014 in Sochi (from 7 February to 16 March 2014) on the territory of the Olympic Park will be deployed an exposition of subjects of the North-West Federal District.

The Olympic Park is a central object, which unites all sport and hospitality facilities of the upcoming Olympiad 2014.

The main purpose of the project "Exposition of Russian regions in the Olympic Park" is a demonstration of the creative diversity of Russia, tourist attraction in the international arena. In this regard, the central idea of ​​the exposition of the North-West Federal District will be the presentation of its tourist potential, built on the basis of historical and cultural heritage, ethnic and cultural potential, natural resources, sports achievements, innovation and investment projects. The exposition area of the North-West Federal District will be more than five hundred square meters.

It is assumed that the expositions of regions are arranged according to geographical location. The exposition of Saint-Petersburg will take a central place. Around is will be located expositions of the Leningrad, Vologda, Arkhangelsk regions, the Nenets Autonomous District, Murmansk, Karelia, Kaliningrad, Pskov and Novgorod regions. As part of the exposition of regions of the North-West Federal District, visitors can learn about historical landmarks and sights of St. Petersburg, to get to the residence of Santa Claus, to listen to presentations of the North Choir, to go back in the days of the Novgorod Veche and etc.
