History of Saint-Petersburg: Unique documents of the blockade time first presented by the General Staff Library of the Russian Army

Unique photos taken by heroic defenders of Leningrad during the defense of the city, and the outbreak of the blockade, are first presented to its readers and visitors by the Military Historical Library of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, located at the headquarters of the Western Military District at the Palace Square in St. Petersburg.

More than 100 photos of the blockade time, made ​​by war correspondents, officers and soldiers of the Red Army in the period 1941-1944, were found by the library specialists during in the preparation of the premises for repair. Previously, these photographs were exhibited nowhere, as by mistake, made over 50 years ago, were kept in the documents of the Soviet-Finnish War.

The exhibition which is devoted to the 70th anniversary of the full liberation by Soviet troops of Leningrad from Nazi troops, in addition to documentary photographs are presented original maps, leaflets of fighting formations and units of the Red Army, newspapers of that time and children's drawings of blockade days.
