The “Melikhovo” A. P. Chekhov State Literary - Memorial Museum will be included in the tourist route "Russian manor".

On the creation of inter-regional historical, cultural and tourist route "Russian manor" was announced last summer at a workshop conference in the Tula region. The project will be the demonstration of the formation of special Russian life - manors. They are preserved in Moscow, Tula, Orel and Vladimir regions.

One of the main directions of development of tourism in Russia is the creation of new tourist routes. It is planned that the first one will cover the area of the North-West Federal District. The second will be held on the territory of several countries and will be called the "Great Silk Road". The third, but one that will be created first, will unite museums of Central Russia and will be called "Russian country estate". New routes should attract the attention of the Russians, and then the foreign tourists.

Melikhovo - one of the most remarkable monuments of Russian culture in the suburbs, the ancient village is inseparably linked with the name of Anton Chekhov. Here from 1892 to 1899 a Great Russian writer lied and woked, here was written more than 40 genius works.

An extensive cultural and historical complex includes the Melikhovskaya estate, local school, built on the initiative of Chekhov, outpatient building where Anton Pavlovich took patients, post and telegraph office at the station Lopasnya, opened with the assistance of the writer. The pearl of the museum – is outbuilding, where was written the famous play "The Seagull".

"The inclusion of the Moscow region estate of Chekhov in the tourist route "Russian manor" is naturally - says Minister of Culture of the Moscow Region Oleg Rozhnov. - Moreover, in recent years it has significantly changed. There have been restored and recreated many manor buildings. Here runs theater "Chekhov Studio", as once dreamed Anton P. Chekhov. Those who will be traveling on the new route will see many things in Melikhovo".
