Russian museums: The Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts told about plans for the coming year

The new season of the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts will show the public paintings by Rubens and Van Dyck, William Hogarth and graphics by Katsushika Hokusai, as well as treasures from China. As told by its director Marina Lochak traditionally the museum has planned several expositions of masterpieces of world art. One of them is dedicated to the 20th anniversary of establishing of diplomatic relations with Liechtenstein. In June, the Russian public will see 50 works of the XVII century by Flemish paintings from the collection of Prince of Liechtenstein including Rubens, Van Dyck, Jordaens and others. 

In summer, the museum will also open the exposition at the Academy of Carrara in Bergamo. The museum will feature canvases by Botticelli, Caravaggio, Renaissance masters.

In early March, the main building of the Pushkin Museum will host rare treasures from China. According to the director of the museum, the exhibits were found as treasure a few decades ago, now included in the list of UNESCO-protected. In Moscow it will be brought 92 unique exhibits, including predominantly ancient musical instruments.

As part of the "cross" Year Russia – the United Kingdom, the museum has planned several projects. One of the most important will be the exhibition "Oscar Wilde - Aubrey Beardsley and their Russian followers and admirers", also planned an exhibition of graphic works by William Hogarth and exposure of patterns of well-known artist-symbolist George Watts of the famous gallery Watts.

Russian viewers will also be shown the woodcut of illustrator and engraver of Katsushika Hokusai from the Japanese museum.

Furthermore, in April will be opened an exhibition in the Pushkin Museum "Gallant Game", - almost 80 French Rococo prints from its collection. In 2014, for the first time in Russia will be open an exposition of the works of German and Swiss artist, art theorist Paul Klee. A tradition to make one painting exhibition will be continued: in September - November in the main building of the Pushkin Museum will be shown "Madonna of Senigallia" of Piero della Francesco from the National Gallery of Marche in Urbino.

In the Department of Private Collections in March will be open the project from the series "Collections and Collectors". On review "Surrealism in the livre d'artiste of the XX century" will be featured 500 exhibits from the collection of graphic by Boris Fridman. And in September, as part of the season of Austria, will be presented an exhibition of French painting of the XVI-XX centuries from the collection of the Albertina Museum in Vienna.
