Internet and society: Internet domain .DETI delegated to Russia

The record of the Russian-language Internet domain .DETI appeared in the registers of the Internet addressing. This was stated at the press service of the Coordination center of national domain of the Internet, explaining, that new “children’s” domain, thus, is officially delegated to Russia.

In April 2012 the Foundation “Smart Internet” applied for a children’s Cyrillic domain to the International Corporation ICANN supported by the Ministry of Communications and Mass Media, the Coordination center of national domains RU/РФ, the Agency of Strategic Initiatives and a number of non-governmental organizations.

“The meaning of the domain .DETI – is in the creation of another world, which will be more interesting for children, that the dangerous content. The delegating of the children’s domain – is the results of the serious and hard work of specialists of ICANN, the foundation “Smart Internet” and the whole Internet community, which started in 2012”, - notes Vladimir Mamontov, Director of the Foundation “Smart Internet”.

In April 2014 in .DETI will start a priority registration of domain names of the second level for the holders of exclusive rights to trademarks and service marks, holders of exclusive rights to brand names, holders of exclusive names to use the appellation of the origin, non-profit organizations and mass media. At the end of the priority period to register the name in the domain .DETI will be possible to anyone.
