History and culture: Exhibition “County Rus’” in Moscow

February 24, 2014 at the Center for Fine Arts "Volhonka-Grand" (Moscow) opens the exhibiton of Eugene Rastorguev "County Rus’”.

The exhibition presents works of the outstanding Russian artist Eugene Rastorguev (1920-2009). His works are in the collections of the State Tretyakov Gallery, the Russian Museum and many other art museums. In the halls of "Volkhonka-Grand" is presented graphics, as well as 50 works from the extensive pictorial cycle "Gorodets fantasy". The collection in this form is exhibited in Russia for the last time. A part of a collection of works belonging to the family of the artist will soon leave the borders of Russia.

"The current exposition provides a rare opportunity to see the works of Rastorguev, feel the spirit of the small old towns and plunge into the picturesque world of Russian folklore", - said the organizers. The main part of the exhibition consists of the famous "Gorodets fantasies" - genre scenes that have become the hallmark of the master. Also, you can see the graphics of Rastorguev presented by three series in different techniques - watercolor, gouache and oil pastels.

The main theme of creativity of Eugene Rastorguev became Gorodets - a small town on the banks of the Volga, where the master spent his childhood and adolescence.

The exhibition is open to visitors from February 24 to March 24.
