Internet resources: Indian authorities have launched Internet encyclopedia Vikaspedia

22 February 2014

Indian authorities have launched their own "Wikipedia" - multilingual portal Vikaspedia, created to promote the "important information" to the masses. Despite the branded and conceptual similarities with Wikipedia, this development is another aspect of implementing e-government in the country.

It is assumed that there will be published important data of the five key areas: agriculture, health, education, social security, and energy. The portal will work in five languages: English, Hindi, Assamese, as well as languages and Marathi and Telugu.

The site includes discussion forums, analytical sections and materials with some other government resources.
