Russian libraries: Exhibition of the publishing house of the Cambridge University timed to the Year of Great Britain in Russia at the Russian State Library

February 18, 2014 at the Russian State Library (Moscow) is opening an exhibition of books and electronic resources of the Cambridge University Press. It is also timed to the round table, at which will be disclosed aspects of the cooperation of the library and English publishers, drawn prospects for further cooperation. The exhibition is held in the framework of the Year of Culture of Great Britain and Russia.

The publishing house of the Cambridge University founded in 1534 is one of the oldest in the world. The range of publications, produced by them, is extremely broad - it is a scientific and educational literature on all kinds of knowledge. Today, the Cambridge University Press annually publishes 300 magazines and more than 2,500 new titles, and keeps pace with the times and pays more attention to electronic resources.

The Russian State Library for many decades acquires academic publications of the Cambridge University Press humanitarian of sciences and technical subjects that are in demand with consistently high readership.

Visitors of the exhibition will be able to make sure that the books from the series "Rossika" still come out at the Cambridge University Press and are acquired the library.

A special place in the exhibition will be taken by a unique collection of archives of the Cambridge Archive Editions, acquired by the Russian State Library in 2013:

The decoration of the exhibition is rare Cambridge Publishing of the XVII-XVIII centuries, at the example of which you can get an idea of the high printing, bookbinding and engraving art of the time. The exhibition also provides a movie on the history and the present of the Cambridge University Press.


In 2013, the Russian State Library has also been enriched with
electronic collection of scientific books of Cambridge Books Online, which comprised 81 editions, mainly on the exact and natural sciences.
