18 February 2014

The exhibition of rare books and manuscripts "Daylight is the word of the book" dedicated to the 450th anniversary of the first Russian printed book "The Apostle", runs from February 18 to March 30, 2014 in the V. I. Ulyanovsk Regional Scientific Library.

Visitors of the exhibition will see the publications of the XVI-XIX centuries from the Library and the State Archives of the Ulyanovsk region, which became a model of the printed by Ivan Fedorov and Petr Mstislavets "The Apostle". Among them are "The Book of fasting" of Basil the Great (Ostrog, 1594), "The Apostles", published by printers Kondrat Ivanov (Moscow, 1623) and Spiridon Sobol (Kyiv, 1630) and others.

The exhibition provides a unique opportunity to see first-hand books that are rarely exhibited at exhibitions, because they require special storage conditions and use.
