
Russian museums: The State Russian Museum presented plans for 2014
According to the deputy director of the State Russian Museum Yevgeny Petrov, in 2014 the focus of the exhibition the museum's activities will be the story of the First World War, a unique collection of folk costumes and native art from the Ancient Russia to the Silver Age.
"In 2014 the museum planned several very large-scale exhibitions which for sure will be interested to public and the press", - said Petrov. Art lovers are looking forward to seeing the works of Nicholas Roerich and Alexander Samokhvalov - their personal expositions will be the largest in 2014. One of the most important anniversaries of the year - the centenary of the First World War - will be devoted to the exhibition "The war of 1914". Much attention will be given to ancient art - its masterpieces are featured in the exhibition of the Department of Christian antiquities, from which in the XIX century began the history of the State Russian Museum.
Nearest major exhibition, which opens St Petersburg residents and visitors a world of national culture and arts and crafts, will be the exposition "All, my dear, clothes good for you! Folk costume of the XVII-XX centuries", which the State Russian Museum will open in March. The exhibition will present about five hundred unique items from the collection of folk costume belt - one of the largest and most significant in Russia. In such volume its objects are exhibited for the first time.
An active exhibition activities the museum plans to expand outside of St. Petersburg - in the regions of Russia and abroad. On Sakhalin people will see the exhibition "Five Centuries of Russian Art", which will present paintings from ancient icons to paintings of the 1960s. Murmansk and Petrozavodsk will host an exhibition of works by Konstantin Korovin.
Foreign lovers of Russian art will expect large-scale national art exhibition "From kings to communists", which will provide a picture of the Silver Age masters, including Kazimir Malevich and Marc Chagall - it will be open in Stockholm. And in Brazil is an exposition "Ludwig Museum in the Russian Museum", which left St. Petersburg for the first time and the "native" Marble Palace walls.
"Another foreign exhibition of the State Russian Museum will be open this week in Finland - in the exhibition center "Vellamo" in Kotka. It tells about the life of Tsar Alexander III, whose identity is a kind of link between the State Russian Museum, of which he was the founder and Kotka, near which was located the fishing lodge of tsar Langinkoski where he often rested with his family", - the report of the museum says.
