The building, where in 1739-1740 the Great Russian scientist lived and studied, was reconstructed thanks to the financial support of both countries.

The idea of restoring the house on the street Fisherstrasse (before 1990 – the Lomonosov street) was originated in the year of the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great scientist at the conference of Russian-German raw forum. At that time the house was uninhabited and was in critical condition. The reconstruction began in 2013, after the couple Engel purchased a building and handed it to the Freiberg Mining Academy.

Revive the memorial complex "House of Lomonosov" failed less than a year ago. It consists of two parts: the historical and residential. The first features a guest lounge, decorated in the style of Russian baroque, a conference hall, an exhibition devoted to the German period in the life of Mikhail Lomonosov and the history of Russian-German relations.

The second part includes rooms for 20 seats for students and young scientists from Russia, who will undergo training at the Freiberg Mining Academy. The plaque on the facade of the building resembles that Lomonosov conducted research with mountain adviser Henkel in its chemical and metallurgical laboratory in 1739-1740.
