World culture: Exhibition “Marc Chagall. Bible Stories” in Cherepovets

8 February 2014

The exhibition "Marc Chagall. Bible Stories" opened at the Art Museum of Cherepovets on February 7, 2014. Visitors can see 76 color and black -and-white lithographs by the artist from German collections. Compositions are given for the exposure by Gallery-Trade.

The exhibition "Marc Chagall. Bible Stories" is one of the most significant series of graphic great artist - his illustrations for the Bible. Despite considerable interest in the artist's work throughout the world, this series to this day is a little-known for a wide range of audiences. In 1930, a Parisian publisher Vollard suggested Chagall to create a series of illustrations for the Bible, which were published only in 1956 and 1960 in Paris.

Each of the 76 lithographs in the exhibition is the original interpretation of biblical texts, their deep understanding of the artist insight into human nature and human relationships.

The exhibition "Marc Chagall. Bible Stories" is another look at the ongoing search for the secrets of existence. The exhibition is accompanied by music specially written for the exhibition project "Marc Chagall. Bible Stories".
