To the XXII Winter Olympic Games in Sochi: Exhibition “Moscow and sport”

February 7, 2014 the Museum of Moscow hosts the exhibition “Moscow and sport”.

During the Olympic Games in Sochi the sports theme has become one of the most important - and not just in Sochi. The Museum of Moscow tells about the sport in Moscow - its history, vintage things, significant events, the development of sport in urban spaces.

The exhibition reveals that at the end of the XIX century the skating rinks were very popular, 20-30s of the XX century was the era of the parade of athletes, in the 40s football flourished in the '70s - hockey, separate phenomenon was Olympics-80, 90s - heyday of tennis in our time - boom of sports park and bike paths.

The exhibition features skates of Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya, old wooden skis, the first bike, assembled in Moscow, modern skateboard and rollers – they are symbols of different eras, but all of them are the symbols of urban sport.
