Information technology and culture: The opening of the information-educational center “The Russian Museum: the Virtual Branch” in Kostomuksha

March 31, 2014 opens the informational and educational center "The Russian Museum: the Virtual Branch" in the municipal budget institution "Municipal Archives and the Central Library of the Kostomukshaa city district" (the Republic of Karelia).

The opening of a virtual branch of the Russian Museum in one of the national libraries will be the next step in creating a network of information and educational centers "The Russian Museum: the Virtual Branch" in several cities in the Republic of Karelia (Kostamuksha, Sortavala, Kondopoga, Petrozavodsk) and cities in Finland (Joensuu and Kajaani). The Virtual branch is opened in order to promote educational and outreach resources of the Russian Museum and the introduction of new forms of library work with the local community. The library in Kostomuksha will be the first library in the Republic of Karelia, which will be presented to the new information and educational resources of the Russian Museum.

As part of the project "The Russian museum: the Virtual Branch" in the library will appear a few new computers with which you can get acquainted with the unique art collections of the Russian Museum, presented in the form of multimedia programs and films in the virtual library branch. Public lectures, classes and presentations on the history of Russian art, which will be held in a virtual branch of the Russian Museum, they are also an integral part of the project "Libraries are changing, new forms of libraries - the local community", which is being implemented by the National Library of the Republic of Karelia. The project is implemented with the support of the border cooperation Karelia ENPI.
