Society and culture: Exhibition “Western European Art from the collection of the State Pushkin Museum” in the Rostov region
In the excursion-exhibition center "People's House" of the M. A. Sholokhov Museum-Reserve (the Rostov region) on March 30, 2014 begins the exhibition "Western European Art from the collection of the State Pushkin Museum".
Visitors will have the opportunity to join the treasures of world culture from the collections of the famous museum. The exhibition includes more than 100 unique works of painting, drawing, sculpture, decorative arts, represented more than 60 names of artists who worked in the second half of the XVII - XIX centuries.
The leitmotif of the exhibition is Pushkin, his life and work. The exhibition includes portraits of friends and contemporaries of the poet. A special place in the portrait gallery is taken by the image of William Shakespeare and Pushkin's contemporaries - Friedrich Schiller and Heinrich Heine. The poet was well acquainted with their works, and each of them had an impact on the development of his talent.
Never crossing the borders of Russia, Pushkin in his works has managed to reflect the history, culture, nature of many countries, life and customs of their peoples. The exhibition of works by Western artists is contributing to the development of the theme "Pushkin and World Culture".
The exhibition "Western European art from the State Pushkin Museum» will take visitors from 30 March to 11 May 2014.
