Information technology and culture: The Ministry of Culture to launch online system of data acquisition from regional cultural institutions

The Ministry of Culture of Russia plans to launch a new online system for data acquisition from regional cultural institutions. This was stated by the deputy head of department Nikolay Malakov, speaking at a meeting of the coordinating council under the Ministry of Culture of Russia, gathered in Moscow regional ministers of culture.

"We want this year to implement a new system that will allow online to find out where were held exhibitions, where a performance was made, every cultural institution will enter their data", - said Malakov. He noted that it would be developed by the Main Information and Computing Centre (MICC) of the Ministry.

In his turn, the director of GIVC Andrei Gusev explained that the new system "should greatly simplify routine part of the work of cultural institutions, it will allow in the regular mode to quickly collect statistics". He noted that the project will be implemented in the very near future.
