The number of new top-level domain zones (new gTLD), which ICANN has already delegated to applicants, exceeded 175, the ICANN report said.

During the announcement of the program for delegating new domains ICANN made on ​​the opening day of its annual conference, which takes place in Singapore from 24 to 28 March 2014.

The program of registration of new domain zones in addition to the existing 22 "general" (.COM,.ORG,. NET and etc.) and about 250 national zones was approved by ICANN in late June 2011. Accepting applications for new zones launched on January 12, 2012. Any entity may apply for domain creation of the form .NAME, and in the coming years, ICANN expects the appearance about 1.3 thousand new domains.

Only in March 2014 ICANN delegated 18 new top-level domain zones - among them the area .NYC for New York City, domains .WEBCAM and .TRADE, as well as Cyrillic domain .ORG for customer-organizations. Earlier in February, it has been delegated more than 40 domains, including Cyrillic domain .CHILDREN for websites with content suitable for children.

Since the beginning of 2014 it has been delegated more than hundreds of new top-level domain zones. Their turns are waiting Cyrillic domain zone .RUS, .COM, .MOSCOW and even .CATHOLIC.
