History of Russia: Unique materials are presented at the exhibition, dedicated to the leaders of the Soviet state, in Moscow

March 25, 2014 at the State Historical Museum opens the exhibition “The Myth about the beloved leader”.

This is the first large-scale demonstration of the collection of the former Central Lenin Museum, dedicated to the leaders of the Soviet state – V. I. Lenin and I. V. Stalin.

January 2014 marks the 90th anniversary of Lenin's death. The death of the founder of the Soviet state was the reason for creating a museum in his name, which began with the exhibition, opened in one of the halls of the Museum of the Revolution in 1925. After 10 years, it was decided to open near the Red Square the Central Lenin Museum. Over half a century the Museum cultivated commitment to Lenin and Stalin - historical figures who personified the policy of the ruling Communist Party. This predetermined his fate in post-Soviet Russia - in November 1993 it was closed.

The collections of the Historical Museum house over 100,000 monuments testifying to the formation and development of political cults of Lenin and Stalin, receptions transformation of real historical figures in the characters of the socialist system. More than 1,000 artifacts collected together in this exhibition, give an idea of ​​how to create and maintain a political myth of the "beloved leader".

The exhibition features paintings, posters, sculptures, newsreels, photographs, personal items, sketches from life of Lenin, the first edition of the works; attributes of leaders - cap of Lenin and pipes of Stalin.

Visitors can see the portraits of Lenin, made ​​by craftsmen of 83 countries from scrap materials: pen, grains, pieces of cloth, tobacco leaf, stone pieces; portraits, made of the spokes; various kinds of embroidery; portraits composed of Lenin quotes.

The death masks of Lenin and Stalin, memorabilia banners, funeral wreaths, models and modern wooden mausoleum, model of Leninist sarcophagus by N. V. Tomsky are presented.

Visitors can learn about the collection of different performance style sketches of sculptures of Lenin and Stalin, postcards with unpreserved monuments. Also on display is a collection of gifts presented to V. I. Lenin and I.V. Stalin.
