Internet and culture: Virtual project “Revived faces” presented at the website of the Bryansk Museum and Exhibition Center

The Virtual exposition and exhibition project "Revived faces" is presented at the website of the Bryansk Regional Art Museum and Exhibition Centre from 12 March 2014.

The exhibition features icons from the collection of the museum, restored in 2009-2011 during the implementation by museum's specialists project "Restoration of icons from the collection of the Bryansk Regional Art Museum and Exhibition Center".

This work has resulted the revival to life and the possibility of exposure of twelve icons of the XIX century, with significant cultural, historical and artistic value. Most of these icons are assigned to the museum in the late 1990s. Bryansk customs, at the time of inclusion in the museum's colelction was in a poor state of preservation.

Thanks to diligent work of experienced restorers, museum visitors can see 10 icons. Among them - the "Old Testament Trinity", "Crucifixion with Saints", "St. Archangel Michael", "The image of the Blessed Virgin Moldavanskaya" particularly revered in the Russian icon "Our Lady of St. Theodore" and "Protection of the Blessed Virgin", as well as rare recession of the icon "St. John Crypt Suffering with selected saints".

A special feature of this exhibition project is an opportunity to see at the photographs the condition of these icons before the restoration.

Two of the twelve restored icons ("Nativity of John the Baptist" and the Image of Our Lady "Three Hands") are included in the section of iconography of museum's permanent exhibition.
