The World Culture: "The Great Classics of the XX Century" Graphic Arts Exhibition in Komsomolsk-on-Amur

"The Great Classics of the XX Century: Salvador Dali, Henri Matisse, Marc Chagall" graphic arts exhibition was opened on March 14, 2014, at Komsomolsk-on-Amur Fine Arts Museum.

The exhibition includes 57 works of the most recognized artists, who have revolutionized the art, determined its shape and founded the main courses of modernism - Henri Matisse, Marc Chagall, Salvador Dali. Painting and especially graphics was a real laboratory of modernism. Whole trends and styles were born in works of individual artist. This exhibition is built exactly of graphic works of these artists.

The works were purchased abroad by a group of Krasnoyarsk investors. The exhibition includes pieces by the artists who have explored different types and techniques, besides painting engaging in graphics, specifically in lithography. The lithography could repeat pictorial compositions and be created as a separate product or as book illustrations. An example is created by Marc Chagall as far back as in the twenties of the twentieth century series of illustrations to Nikolai Gogol's "Dead Souls" poem. Chronology of the works covers a large part of the twentieth century, from the beginning of tens to the seventies, when the authors yet have been working. The exhibition presents a range of style pursuits and includes figurative and abstract works.

The exhibition is offering a rare opportunity to observe the works of legendary artists - the founders of twentieth century art.
