The exhibition "Without his Yasnaya Polyana…" is a photo chronicle of the history of the estate, representing different stages of her life. These photos, showing the estate itself, its interiors, landscapes, the guests of Yasnaya Polyana and the family of the writer, and the period of the making of the museum, a difficult military phase, as well as a museum of modern life. Some pictures are made during the life of Leo N. Tolstoy.

This place is the cradle and the grave of the great writer. Here on August 28, 1828 (old style), he was born and lived for more than 60 years long 82-year life. In Yasnaya Polyana the writer has created most of his works. Tolstoy with a special feeling of love talked about his family estate: "Without my Yasnaya Polyana I cannot imagine Russia and my attitude towards it…".

The manor house and its landscapes were the objects of philosophical and artistic thought of Tolstoy - they are nature's favorite for his works. Much evidence of deep affection of the writer to Yasnaya Polyana is both in facts of his life and his literary works.

The exhibition will run till March 23, 2014.
