History of a book: Days of the Orthodox book, dedicated to the 450th anniversary of the release of the first dated printed book of Rus’, in Astrakhan

In the N. K. Krupskaya Regional Scientific Library as part of the Year of Culture in Russia took place the solemn opening the Days of the Orthodox book "Spiritual as source of culture". At the heart of the festival is an important event in the culture of Russia – the release of the first printed Russian dated book "Apostle", the 450th anniversary of which is celebrated this year.

Year 2014 is also held under the sign of the 700th anniversary of Sergius of Radonezh. As part of the opening ceremony is presented an exhibition of book from the collections of the Astrakhan Regional Scientific Library and the Parish Library of the St. John the Baptist Monastery “St. Sergius of Radonezh in Russian culture and the Orthodoxy”, as well as the exhibition of paintings of the artist I. Parakhin and creative works of pupils of the Center of Culture and Education “BOGOLEP”.

In March Astrakhan residents will see other events during the Days of Orthodox books: readers' conference "Waiting for the Miracle": books on the "Green Series Hope", creative laboratory "What the icon tell about", meeting the Press from "Astrakhan diocesan statements" to…" as well as local history reading of the series "Living Memory": "Alexey Afanasievich Dmitrievsky".
