World memory: To the 200th anniversary of Taras Shevchenko to be celebrated in Khabarovsk

From 1 to March 12, 2014 in Khabarovsk is held the Peoples' Friendship Festival, dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the birth of Taras Shevchenko. The festival is attended by universities, national-cultural associations, the best amateur art groups of Khabarovsk and the Khabarovsk region.

Taras Shevchenko is an outstanding Ukrainian poet, novelist, playwright, artist, politician and public figure. He was a man of versatile talents and interests.

By the decision of the Presidents of Russia and Ukraine, the anniversary celebrations are held at the international, national and regional levels, as T. Shevchenko is related not only to the two peoples - Ukrainian and Russian, but also to the neighboring peoples of Caucasian and East.

The festival starts on March 1 in the village Lower Manoma of the Nanai District and the grand opening will be held on March 6 in Khabarovsk on the street of T. Shevchenko, in the. N. I. Grodekov Regional Museum. 7, 8 and 9 March the festival events will be held in the villages Krasnorechenskoye and Michurinskoye of the Khabarovsk region and Far Eastern State Research Library, which is one of the initiators of the festival. In libraries of higher education institutions, the city and region are shown in the exhibitions of works of Shevchenko and literature about the famous poet and a painter. Gala-concert and closing ceremony of the festival will be held March 12 in the Far Eastern State Medical University.

The events, dedicated to the anniversary of T. Shevchenko will be held in the Khabarovsk region throughout 2014.
