The World History and Culture: "A Nomad. Between Heaven and Earth" Exhibition in Moscow
On April 24, 2014, at the State Historical Museum (Moscow) opens the exhibition "A Nomad. Between Heaven and Earth."
The exhibition presents the masterpieces of the ancient cultures of the Eurasian steppes from the collection of the Museum of History and the works of sculptor Dashi Namdakov.
Objective of the exhibition "A Nomad. Between Heaven and Earth" is an attempt to explore the distinctive cultural and mythological space of boundless steppe flat land, embracing multiple nomadic folks throughout millennia. Imagery of this culture inhabits the world represented in the tools, weapons, jewelry, and countless pieces of art.
The exhibition pays a tribute to the 100th anniversary of the Archaeological Rarities Department of the Historical Museum. Among its unique exhibits are ancient bronze art castings of Eurasian steppe, the weapons and ornaments of gold Scythian epoch, adornments, statuettes of people and animals, household items, funerary masks, plates with carvings, Chinese silk robe, shamanic costume elements of Siberian nations of late XIX - the beginning of XX century B.C., silver paytsza - engraved on silver plate credentials given by Uzbek Khan. Many of the items are exhibited for the first time.
Dashi Namdakov creative studio and Irkutsk Regional Local Lore Museum are taking part in the exhibition.
