Society and culture: Arctic Cultural Forum in Salekhard

In the capital of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District, Salekhard, on 2-4 April 2014 is held the Arctic Cultural Forum "Culture as a strategic resource for the development of modern society", which is attended by more than 300 workers of culture and art from 16 regions of Russia.

The plenary session will be attended by the Governor of YANAO and the Tyumen region, representatives of the Ministry of Culture of Russia, UNESCO. The forum will be held in seven sections, such as "Partnership as an effective instrument for the preservation of archaeological heritage of the Arctic", "Folk arts and crafts of the northern territories in contemporary cultural space", "Management in the field of culture". In addition, in the sections will be discussing the current role of libraries and museums, initial vocational education in the arts.

As part of the forum, will e open the exhibition "The Word and the glory of Russia", dedicated to the history of the Don Cossacks, and the Center for access to information resources of the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library.

The Forum is held as part of the Year of Culture. The main task of the forum is to make recommendations and indentify priorities for the further development in the field of culture an all business areas and identification of priorities of cultural policy.
