Society and reading: The All-Russian Scientific-Practical Conference “Reading in the XXI century: traditions and tendencies” in Yekaterinburg

The All-Russian Scientific-Practical Conference "Reading in the XXI century: traditions and tendencies (to the 115th anniversary of the B. G. Belinsky Sverdlovsk Regional Universal Scientific Library)" takes place in the Sverdlovsk Regional Universal Scientific Library (Yekaterinburg) on 29-30 May 2014.

At the conference will be discussed the following range of problems:

- Philosophical, cultural, psychological, pedagogical and sociological approaches to the study of reading and readers' practices;

- Current situation of reading in Russia and in the world;

- Problems of promotion of books and reading: tradition and innovation;

- The role of libraries in promoting reading and books;

- The role of the media, advertising and library services in PR-promoting of books and reading;

- Particularities to promote reading in different social and age groups;

- Social partnership in promoting reading and books;

- Problems and prospects of e-books in libraries;

- Reading and network forms of communications;

- The role of education and training in promoting reading and books;

- The study of reading and readers' practices: theory and methods.

To participate in the conference are invited librarians, teachers of universities and colleges, teachers of schools, IT-specialists, members of research institutions, publishers, representatives of government agencies and public organizations.
