Memory of Russia: International Scientific Conference dedicated to the 700th anniversary of St. Sergius of Radonezh at the State Historical Museum

27-28 May 2014 the State Historical Museum (Moscow) hosts an International Scientific Conference "St. Sergius of Radonezh: history and hagiography, iconic image and monastic traditions" as part of the exhibition project "Monastery of St. Sergius" dedicated to the 700th anniversary of St. Sergius of Radonezh.

The purpose of the conference – is the introduction to the scientific use of new written and art sources associated with St. Sergius of Radonezh and created by him the Trinity-Sergius Lavra. The theme of the conference is timed to the exhibition held by the Historical Museum “Monastery of St. Sergius” and covers the following issues: “St. Sergius and his era”, “Book-learning and the Trinity-Sergius Lavra”, “St. Sergius in monuments of iconography”, “Monastery traditions of St. Sergius of Radonezh in the XIV-XVI centuries”, “To the Trinity: tradition of pilgrimage and pilgrimage souvenirs”.

The conference welcomes representatives of the largest scientific centers and museums of Russia.
