History of Saint-Petersburg: Unique documents telling of the construction of bridges in the city presented at the exhibition in the Archival Committee

26 May 2014

May 26, 2014 in the Exhibition Hall of the Archives Committee of St. Petersburg is presented an exhibition "Bridges, bridges! They, like hands, connect time and the hearts…"

The exhibition is timed to the celebration of the City Day - Day of St. Petersburg. The exposition includes documents about the first appearance in the city of bridges, their location, the operating rules, etc. In addition, the exhibition presents unrealized projects of permanent bridges across the Neva. Visitors will be able to see what the Palace and the Trinity bridges could look like.

Special attention is paid to the role of bridges in important historical events such as the October Revolution of 1917. No less interesting are the theme of St. Petersburg bridges in literature, art and cinema, as well as the legends connected with the main "heroes" of the exhibition. Specifically for this project were declassified documents of the CPSU, for example, protection of bridges from enemy bombing during the blockade of Leningrad.

Archives Committee partners in this project are the State Russian Museum, the Railroad Museum and the Bridge Construction squad №19.
