To the Day of Slavic Writing and Culture: Events in Moscow

May 24 marks the Day of Slavic Writing and Culture - a holiday timed to the Day of Commemoration of Saints Cyril and Methodius.

May 24 in major cities of Russia at 12.00 Moscow time the festivities begin. In Moscow will be held the Russian holiday concert, and the main action will be unfolded on the Red Square. There will be organized and direct broadcasts of other cities. The festive program will be greeted by Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill.

The program on the Red Square and other festive venues will bring together leading academic and Russian folk choral and dance groups who will tell about the Russian alphabet, the writing and reading. In small tents for adults and children will be held master classes and games that promote reading and increase the level of knowledge of the Russian language.

On the same day the championship on reading aloud will start, which will bring together 100 metropolitan libraries. The competition will be held in three stages, the final is scheduled for June 12 as part of the Moscow Open Book Festival.
