Memory of the world: Exhibition “Time of Glory and Delight. Cossacks in Paris in 1814” in Kaliningrad

May 13, 2014 in the Kaliningrad Regional Historical and Art Museum with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Kaliningrad region took place the opening of the exhibition “Time of Glory and Delight. Cossacks in Paris in 1814” (from collections of the State Historical Museum, Moscow).

This exhibition project is timed to the 200th anniversary of the Foreign campaigns of the Russian Army 1813-1814 and the victorious for Russia completion of Napoleonic wars. The visitors of the exhibition will learn about watercolors of Georg-Emmanuel Opitz (1775-1841), cartoons of Ivan Terebenev (1705-1815) and engravings of European artists of the XIX century from the collection of the largest National Historical Museum of Russia. 

The exhibition is complemented with original exhibits and copies of objects of the period of Napoleonic wars from the collection of the Kaliningrad Regional Historical and Art Museum: uniform of Russian grenadier and French dragoon, cold steel and firearms, banners, rare editions, paintings, archaeological finds, discovered during excavations of burial of soldiers of the Napoleonic army in Kaliningrad.
