Society and Media: Exhibition of best works of photo journalists World Press Photo in Moscow

From May 15 to June 12, 2014 in Moscow in the Center for Design ARTPLAY (Moscow) you can see the exhibition World Press Photo.  This unique traveling exhibition includes almost 200 works of winners of the most prestigious contest of photo journalists World Press Photo, the final of which for the 57th time took place in February 2014 in Amsterdam. The exhibition reflects the most important world events in 2013. 

World Press Photo – is the most authoritative international annual review of photo journalism, which largely determines the standards of a profession. Every year the international independent jury of professional photographers and photo editors of the mass media, and estimates the works of applicants in 9 different categories, presented by photo journalists, agencies, newspapers and magazines from all over the world. Members of the jury announced winners on February 14, 2013 at the press-conference in Amsterdam. Within two weeks the members of the jury examined 98 671 photographs of 5 754 authors from 132 countries.

The first prize this year – “Photograph of a Year” – is named photograph John Stanmeyer from the USA. 

This year the winners in 9 nominations are 53 photographers from 25 countries: Australia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Bulgaria, China, the Czech Republic, El Salvador, Finland, France, Germany, Iran, Italy, Jordan, Mexico, Palestine, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Russia, Serbia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, the UK and the USA.

This year the winners of the World Press Photo are three photographers from Russia: Danila Tkachenko, Nikita Shokhov, and Elena Chernyshova.
