Russian culture abroad: “Days of Leo Tolstoy” started in Argentina

A series of events, dedicated to the life and work of the Great Russian writer Leo Tolstoy, started in Argentina.

In the cultural center of Borges – one of the main exhibition grounds of the capital – opened the photo exhibition, dedicated to the writer, and the Argentines were able to talk to his great-grandson Alexander Tolstoy, permanently residing in Uruguay. 

The participants were able to see the unique newsreel footage - rare lifetime shooting Leo Tolstoy from the archive of his descendants. The exhibition of the photo exhibition, which was inaugurated by a descendant of Tolstoy, Russian ambassador and representative of Rossotrudnichestvo in Argentina, includes several dozen photos of the Russian writer. They were granted as by House Museum of Tolstoy in "Yasnaya Polyana" and "House of Russia" in Buenos Aires (the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office).

"The exhibition will run until June 8", - said the representative of Rossotrudnichestvo Valery Kucherov. According to him, on the basis of Borges Cultural Center and support of Rossotrudnichestvo during these weeks will be shown films "War and Peace" and "Anna Karenina", before the Argentines will appear one of our compatriots with a lecture on the work of the writer, and this series will end with Russian Romances concert. According to Kucherov, after this, the exhibition will go on a tour to Argentina.
