Georgy Poltavchenko, Acting Governor of St. Petersburg, proposed to create an online museum of the Russian Empire. He said that at a meeting of experts "Izborsk club" which is held on June 19, 2014 on Stone Island, in the government residence K2.

"I propose to create an online museum of the Russian Empire, in which every Russian could be proud of its history, and that could be a place where the characters come to life, who built an empire, which would find articles, books and films", - said Georgy Poltavchenko.

According to him, this idea came to him during transfer to the Hermitage of the Stock Exchange building for the organization there of a Museum of Heraldry.

Georgy Poltavchenko explained that a separate server to the collection of materials is not necessary, because in our country it has long been working to digitize historical documents, which means you can simply place links where visitors can simply serf on individual resources - websites of national museums, libraries.

Izborsk Club is a community of well-known experts who are engaged and interested in domestic and foreign policy of Russia. Izborsk club was established in 2012 during the celebration of the 1150th anniversary of the city of Izborsk.
