History of Saint-Petersburg: Archival documents illustrating the history of the Road of Life

In the exhibition hall "Smolny" (St. Petersburg) opened an exhibition of archival documents on the work of the military-road 101/102 - the Road of Life.

The basis of the exhibition is art and documentary material from the personal archives of the soldiers, their personal belongings, and 10 drawings made in field conditions.

In April and May, the exhibition "Road of Life" was exhibited in museums settlements through which the besieged way to the mainland took place - in the Novoladozhsky Historical Museum and the Museum of the History of the Volkhov. Here it was added with materials about the work of the Ladoga Flotilla and Volkhov railway junction, which played an important role in organizing transportation at Ladoga lake road.

The exhibition is organized by the regional Museum Agency for a grant of the Ministry of Culture of Russia in the framework of a large inter-regional project "Art of Northwest: from petro glyphs to the New reality". The exhibition runs until 20 June 2014.
