Society and Culture: VIII Interregional Scientific Museum and Local History “Prozritelev Readings” Conference will be held in Stavropol

On 13-14 of November 2014, within a framework of the Year of Culture of the Russian Federation, on a basis of the Stavropol State National Park and Museum named after G. N. Prozritelev and G. K. Prave will be held VIII Interregional Museum and Local History "Prozritelev Readings” Conference dedicated to the 1100th anniversary of the Baptism of Alanya and the 165th anniversary of Gregory Nikolaevich Prozritelev (1849-1933), a prominent Stavropol lawyer, local historian and an outstanding public figure.

The following areas of the conference are proposed:

1. Historical and literary North Caucasus local lore study.

2. The problems of regional archeology and ethnography.

3. The museum collections and museum industry study.

4. The issues of studying, retaining and maintenance, and use of cultural and natural heritage of the region.

5. Christianity in the North Caucasus and its contribution to the North Caucasian peoples’ culture and life: the history and the contemporaneity.
