In the Literary Museum of the Pushkin House (the Institute of Russian Literature, St. Petersburg) was opened after restoration and re-exposition the Lermontov Hall. The solemn ceremony was attended by Acting Governor of St. Petersburg Georgy Poltavchenko and Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg Vyacheslav Makarov.

Georgy Poltavchenko noted that the opening of the Lermontov Hall - a landmark event in the life of the city and our country. This year marks the 200th anniversary of the birth of Mikhail Lermontov, and the renovated exhibition at the Pushkin House, dedicated to his life and work – is a tribute and respect to the Great Russian poet.

"A lot of luck for us, that after closing of the Lermontov Museum of the Nicholas Cavalry School in 1917, his collection was not lost, it was carefully preserved in the Pushkin House. Today we have a unique opportunity to touch the works of the great Russians - poet, painter and an officer", - said Georgy Poltavchenko.

In the Lermontov Hall are presented personal belongings of the poet, manuscripts of his works, including the famous poem "On the death of the poet". A special place in the collection is taken to drawings and paintings by Mikhail Lermontov.
