Society and culture: The House of Russian Literature to be open in Moscow

The Writer’s Association, representatives of art unions of writers, publishers and experts supported the idea to create the House of Russian Literature on the basis of the object of cultural heritage “Patronage house”, located in Moscow on Komsomolsk prospect, 13.

At the public discussion on the project of reconstruction and use of building space, which was held by the Minister of Culture Vladimir Medinsky, the participants unanimously admitted the necessity of urgent reconstruction of the building which is in pre-emergency state. According to participants, the House of Russian Literature should become the place for communications of writers and readers, publishers and journalists, with modern technical requirements. During the reconstruction of the building it will be taken into account the wishes of writers, writer’s associations and representatives of book industry.

The project of creation of the House of Russian Literature suggests the possibility of holding meetings of presidiums and congresses of writers, award ceremonies of state and public literary awards, a place of communications of writers of Russia. A special attention is the recreation and preservation of a rich interior decoration and interiors of the monuments.
