Russian museums: The largest archaeological museum of Russia to be created in Taman

On the shore of the Gulf of Taman will be created the largest Archaeological Museum of Russia.

The existence of this place of the ancient city, founded 2.5 thousand years ago, has long been known. Phanagoria as the largest shopping mall in the Black Sea was mentioned in the chronicles of ancient Greek historians Plutarch and Appian. However, serious research here began only at the beginning of the XXI century.

According to the head of the archaeological expedition Vladimir Kuznetsov, this is a "fantastic place: a huge city that you can explore the hundreds and hundreds of years".

Participants of the expedition left the initiative to create Phanagoria historical and archaeological complex. This year, the Russian government signed a decree on the establishment of the Taman Museum. Historians are going to bring to work on the project the best domestic and foreign experts.

Archaeologists are convinced: already found artifacts are enough for the collection for not one, but several museums.
