15 July 2014

The Russian Cultural Heritage Center may appear in the building of the Shanghai Cathedral of the Mother of God “Surety of Sinners”. The proposal was made on July 14 by the Acting Governor of Saint-Petersburg Georgy Poltavchenko during his meeting with the Director of the China’s State Administration for Religious Affairs Wang Tszoan.

“The opening of the center would be beneficial for the knowledge spreading on the Russian culture in the Chinese society, and it would attract the attention of our compatriots. The use of the building in these purposes will allow deploying a permanent exposition, as well as restore its historical appearance”, - said Georgy Poltavchenko.

In his turn, Wang Tszoan noted that the Russian-Chinese group is created for the development of relations in the spiritual direction. According to him, during the meeting, which will be held on July 15 in Moscow, the proposal of the creation of the Russian Cultural Heritage Center will be considered.
