
History and culture: The exhibition “Bread of the besieged city” opened at the Pushkin Reserve
July 5, at the Pushkin Reserve opened the exhibition "Bread of the besieged city". The exhibition presents 19 posters with photographs and documents telling about the life of the beleaguered by troops of Nazi Germany Leningrad, sending food to the city and its distribution among the population. It is highlighted the theme "Children of wartime".
The most interesting photo documents include:
- Pictures from the exhibition "Recipes of dishes prepared of wild grasses". Such exhibitions for the preparation of food from wild plants were organized in the city, were distributed vegetable seeds for planting in urban lawns and terraces.
- Residents of Leningrad watered their individual gardens. For starving people were created various ways to improve the diet.
- Portrait of a resident of the besieged city. 1942. This photo has become the emblem of the blockade; it is given in all editions. Despite the portrait likeness with a famous artist Filippov to prove that he is on the photograph was failed.
- The queue to the bakery for bread. Leningrad. Winter 1942. In bakeries from the night were organized long queues. To buy bread for the state price. In the hardest months of the blockade (in November 1941 - february 1942) by the cards you could bring only the bread.
- The quest for water. In the city it has stopped working a sewage and water. For the water people went with sled on the Neva River and small rivers. Sometimes it was possible to take water from the current column.
- Registration to the donors. Military doctors settled in the city during the Siege an effective donor service and provided the wounded with the blood.
- A series of photos is devoted to victory celebrations on July 8, 1945 – the Leningrad Victory parade.
