History of a book: The exhibition “Literary Era of Chekhov: rare and old books from collections of the Sakhalin museums” presented 30 editions

The Literary-Art Museum of the Book of A. P. Chekhov “Sakhalin Island” in the exposition hall hosts the exhibition “Literary Era of Chekhov: rare and old books from the collections of the Sakhalin museums”. The exhibition will run until July 10.

The visitors are presented original prints of late XIX - early XX centuries from the collections of the two museums dedicated to the life and work of Anton Chekhov on Sakhalin: the Literary and Art Museum of the Book of A. P. Chekhov "Sakhalin Island" and the Historical and Literary Museum "A. P. Chekhov and Sakhalin" in Aleksandrovsk-Sakhalin. In addition, the exhibition can be found with interior details of a study of Chekhov's time.

Visitors of the museum can see the very first separate edition of A. P. Chekhov "Sakhalin Island", released in publishing house of the magazine "Russian Thought" in 1895. Also in the Literature and Art Museum you can see unique instances of books authored by famous Russian writers and publicists of Anton P. Chekhov.

The exhibition presents 33 items, including 30 written sources.

Fans of modern technology can read the Old Russian and foreign literature in digital form. For this at the exhibition hall are created the proper technical possibilities.
