History and culture: Exhibition project “Giuseppe Verdi. Music and culture”, created to the 200th anniversary of the composer, in Moscow

The exhibition project “Giuseppe Verdi. Music and culture”, created to the 200th anniversary of the composer and successfully launched in Italy, continues the world tour. In Moscow its opening is timed to the cross Year of Tourism Italy-Russia and the Year of Culture in Russia.

From July 1 to August 31, 2014 to a wide audience will be presented original documentary materials, illustrated stages of life and work of the musician. Portrait and photographs of Verdi, letters, where he expresses his political views, historical caricatures of the heroes of his operas, autographs – visitors are guaranteed a full immersion to the world of genius.

In a single space is focused evidence for the importance of the composer for the world culture. The scenes from the films, inspired by Verdi’s operas, original posters, works from the archive of the broadcasting company RAI, photographs of singers-contemporaries of Verdi, paintings of that time – this is just a part of the large-scale exhibition, presented at the Novinsky boulevard.

The original series of exhibits support the latest digital technology. Thus, the section “See Verdi”, visitors are offered unique video: conductor Riccardo Muti will tell of the role of the composer in the formation of the spiritual values of the Italian nation; and, finally, it is presented the recent discovery of the Milan film library – documentary of funeral footage of Giuseppe Verdi. 

The interactive audio section offers visitors “historical” sound tour – comparing stages of the development of technique of audio recording and playback. Together with the selection of rare recordings of votes of outstanding opera singers of the XIX - XX centuries in the section are also presented sound devices (from the devices, of wax cylinder, to the first gramophones).
