History of Russia: The exhibition “The Last War of the Russian Empire” in Salekhard

August 31, 2014 as part of the International exhibition project "The First World War: the prologue history of the XX century", dedicated to the First World War Centenary, in the I. S. Shemanovsky Museum and Exhibition Complex (Salekhard) opens the exhibition "The Last war of the Russian Empire".

The aim of the project is to promote and update knowledge of the First World War, its significance in the history of the XX century, as well as the perpetuation of the historical memory of its participants, tracking trends in the prevention of military conflicts.

The exposition features paintings and drawings devoted to the various events of the war, a collection of posters, popular prints, postcards during the First World War from the Russian, French, Italian, English and German collections postcards, maps, photographs, letters, documents, clothing and personal belongings of the soldiers.

For the first time at the exhibition "The last war the Russian Empire" are exhibited paintings and drawings by famous artists of the XX century from the unique collection of posters of the State Central Museum of Contemporary History of Russia, which occupies the second place in Russia (over 8000 items).

The exposition, based on the latest achievements of the historiographical and museological science will allow implementing the advanced visualization of unique and original sources, supported by the use of computer software with the simulation of the historical process leading to the war and followed it.

The exhibition will run until October 19 this year.
