Libraries and society: The annual meeting of directors of federal and regional libraries, dedicated to the Year of Culture in Russia, to be held in Moscow

21-22 October 2014 on the basis of the Russian State Library in Moscow will take place the annual meeting of directors of federal and regional libraries. The theme of 2014 is: "Year of Culture: information and educational role of libraries".

As part of the meeting is supposed to discuss the following issues:

- Educational role of libraries. Problems and solutions.

- The contribution of libraries in the preservation of traditional values, the answer to the challenges of today.

- Local history functions of regional libraries at the present stage.

- Activity of libraries to encourage interest to reading among the youth.

- New services of libraries taking into account the perspective information-communication technology.
