History of Russia: The photo documentary exhibition “Heroes of the Forgotten War” dedicated to the First World War Centenary opened in Stavropol

August 12, 2014 in the G. N. Prozritelev and G. K. Prave Stavropol State Historical and Cultural and Natural Landscape Museum-Reserve opened a photo documentary exhibition "Heroes of the Forgotten War", prepared by the specialists of the museum to the First World War Centenary.

The basis of the exhibition is photographs from the front-line album of the 83rd Infantry Samur Regiment. This regiment, one of the oldest and most honored units of the Russian army in the Caucasus, in the years of the World War, fought in the 21st Infantry Division of the 3rd Caucasian Army Corps. Within three years, the Samur regiment fought against the Austro-Hungarian and German forces in Galicia (west and south-west of present Ukraine) and Poland.

Visitors will also see rare original things from the museum-reserve relating to the period of the First World War.
